International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
With over 25 years of nursing experience, Shannon Connelly brings extensive knowledge and a passion for supporting babies and families to her role as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) at Wonderfully Made Women’s Health. Her background in pediatric critical care and neonatal nursing has shaped her compassionate, family-centered approach to lactation support.
Shannon began her nursing career in Pediatric Critical Care in New York before working at several children’s hospitals across the country. After settling in North Carolina in 2007, she began caring for babies and families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in 2008. She currently serves as a NICU Registered Nurse at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
Her passion for lactation care grew from her desire to support NICU mothers and babies beyond their hospital stay. Recognizing the challenges families face when bringing a newborn home, Shannon is committed to providing practical guidance, education, and individualized feeding support. She works closely with parents to establish realistic short- and long-term feeding goals that align with their family’s unique needs and circumstances.
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband of 22 years, their two teenage children, and two dogs. In her free time, she loves reading, has recently taken up quilting, and can often be found at the barn cheering on her daughter, who is an avid equestrian.
