WOMEN'S HEALTH

International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

With over 30 years of nursing experience, Michelle Janyska brings extensive knowledge, compassion, and a personal understanding of breastfeeding challenges to her role as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) at Wonderfully Made Women’s Health. She is passionate about helping families navigate infant feeding challenges and achieve their individual feeding goals through personalized guidance and support.

Michelle earned her nursing degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and began her career supporting children and families through various healthcare programs and research initiatives, including a breastfeeding program at Johns Hopkins. After experiencing breastfeeding difficulties with her own children, she developed a strong interest in lactation care. She later earned her IBCLC credential while working in postpartum and newborn care at Duke Health and continued expanding her experience at WakeMed Cary.

From 2008 to 2018, Michelle operated a private lactation practice serving families throughout the Triangle area. She later spent five years as a lactation consultant in the WakeMed Raleigh NICU, gaining extensive experience in managing complex feeding challenges. Her approach focuses on patient education, practical solutions, and compassionate support, helping parents feel confident and empowered throughout their feeding journey.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband, four daughters, two bonus sons, and their mini German Shepherd, Meatball. She is an avid reader, participates in two book clubs, and enjoys crocheting handmade items for donation through a community group. She also serves as a co-leader of the Embrace Grace/Life group at her church, supporting single mothers in her community.
